Reach Out and Read Program Now Part of the Healthcare District

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 29, 2016 – Bear Valley Community Healthcare District is proud to announce that they have been the first agency in San Bernardino County awarded funding from First 5 San Bernardino to implement the Reach Out and Read Program. Get Ready to Give Big!

Big Bear Valley, CA, May 7, 2014 – Organizations that enrich our community hold various fundraisers throughout the year, and many residents do their best to attend and contribute. This year, we’re trying something different. Following the incredible success of Give BIG Riverside County, the Big Bear Valley is participating this week in Give BIG San Bernardino County, with the mission of strengthening the Inland Empire through philanthropy. There are 14 local nonprofits participating, and you can see the full list on our website. A 24-hour online giving campaign runs this week, from 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8 to 7:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9. During this time, you can give to all your favorite causes in one fell swoop at www.GiveBigSBCounty.org. This is a County-sponsored Community Foundation project, whose goal is to raise at least $300,000 in just 24 hours. Southwest Gas Annual Coat Drive

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 5, 2012, 6am – Southwest Gas is accepting donations of new and gently used coats for its Annual Winter Coat Drive going on now through October 18th.  The company’s employee volunteer team will then distribute the coats free of charge to children, adults and families throughout the community. Convenient drop-off locations for new and clean, gently used coats for men, women and children can be made during business hours at Southwest Gas, Alaska Federal Credit Union, and Vons in Big Bear Lake, and the Mom and Dad Project in Big Bear City. Car Seat & Bike Safety Event At Convention Center

Big Bear Lake, CA, May 22, 2012, 3:00pm – The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District Mom & Dad Project is having a Car Seat & Bicycle Safety Event this week. The public is invited to the 4th Car Seat Safety Event at the Big Bear Convention Center, Thursday from 1 to 4 pm. Parents can make sure their child’s car seat is safe and appropriate. If your seat is found to be unfit, you’ll qualify for a new car seat donated by First 5 San Bernardino and Arrowhead United Way. Also, if your child is in need of a bicycle helmet, they’ll qualify for a new helmet donated by Safe Kids, just bring your children and their bicycles. Mom & Dad Project Invites You to Read “Llama LLama Red Pajama”

Big Bear, Ca, October 4th, 2011, 4:00pm – The Mom & Dad Project in Big Bear City are taking part in Jumpstarts Read for the Record this Thursday, October 6th.  The local non-profit will join with more than 2 million people to call for an end to America’s early education achievement gap by reading the children’s book Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney.  The Mom & Dad Project invites parents and kids age 0 to 5 years old to come in their pajamas and visit a real life llama on Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  Each child will be able to do a craft, and receive a free children’s book.  The organization asks that you call to sign up, to ensure that they have enough books for the kids.  The Mom & Dad Project is a non profit organization that provides  classes and services to parents in the Big Bear Valley, including child birth classes.  For more information or to sign up for Thursday’s event call 585-5607 or go online at...
