Mr. Roth Greatly Missed Throughout Big Bear Valley

Big Bear, Ca, September 30, 2011, 9:30am –On Wednesday Afternoon, students, faculty and staff and Big Bear High School and the community of Big Bear Lake as a whole were devastated to hear the news that art teacher at Big Bear High Joshua Roth had passed away that morning.  Grief counselors and clergy members were called in at the high school on Wednesday to help everyone deal with loss of the beloved teacher.  On Thursday, students and staff at BBHS came to school wearing black and filled Mr. Roth’s room with flowers.  A group on Facebook was formed called RIP Joshua Roth and already has over 600 members in it.  People on the forum are expressing their sadness at his passing, and a memorial is being...

Art Teacher at Big Bear High School, Joshua Roth Found Deceased

Big Bear, Ca, September 28, 2011, 1:00pm – This morning Sheriff’s deputies received a call from Big Bear High School to conduct a welfare check at the residence of Joshua Roth, a 32 year old art teacher at Big Bear High.  Mr. Roth hadn’t shown up for work, and hadn’t called the Big Bear High offices either.  Deputies arrived and made entry to Mr. Roth’s house at approximately 9:19am, and found Mr. Roth to have a self inflicted gunshot wound.  The coroner was called in and Mr. Roth was found to be deceased.  School counselors, Lutheran Social Services, and local clergy members are at the school campus helping students, teachers and staff with tragic news.  According to Kurt Madden, Superintendent of the Bear Valley Unified School District, school personnel are conducting a comprehensive plan to provide support to the student’s of Big Bear High School and they will monitor this situation on a daily...
