Bear Valley Community Hospital CEO On Medical Leave of Absence

Big Bear Lake, CA, May 9, 2012 – 12 pm - In a memorandum dated May 7th and addressed to all hospital and District staff and employees, the Bear Valley Healthcare District Board of Directors announced the leave of absence of CEO of the Bear Valley Community Hospital, Marc Hecksel. Mr. Hecksel has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and is taking an immediate medical leave of absence. The Board of Directors has unanimously voted to appoint Rudy Shutta, current CFO of the hospital, as the Interim CEO in Mr. Hecksel’s absence. The interoffice memo also stated that all hospital or District related business be directed to Mr. Shutta while Mr. Hecksel is on a leave of absence and undergoing medical treatment. Marc Hecksel plans on returning to his position as soon as he is well enough to resume his duties as CEO.

Hospital Board Seeks Applicants For Open Seat

Big Bear, Ca, January 5, 2011, 4:00pm - The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District is looking for someone to join the board after James Gonzales resigned from the Board of Directors effective December 29, 2011. The Board will hold a meeting on Wednesday, January 25, in which board members may appoint someone for the open seat. Anyone interested in being appointed is required to submit a District approved form questionnaire, a brief summary of the person’s interest, qualifications and background. Blank questionnaires may be obtained by accessing the District’s website at www.bvchd.com or by contacting the Administrative Offices. Completed questionnaires must be emailed, faxed, mailed or personally delivered to the District offices no later than 5:00pm on January 20.
Two New Members Have Joined Bear Valley Community Healthcare District CEO Search Committee

Bear Valley Community Healthcare District is happy to announce that two new members have joined the CEO Search Committee. The Committee welcomes BVCHD Board of Directors Member Brad Summers who joins the Committee in the place of BVCHD Board of Directors Member Michael Hartstein. Also joining the Committee is community member Barbara Espinoza, who will become a BVCHD Board of Directors Member in November 2010. Bear Valley Community Healthcare District Begins Search for Hospital CEO

Big Bear Lake, CA, August 6, 2010 – The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District is happy to report that their search for the permanent CEO for Bear Valley Community Hospital is off to a good start. Last week BVCHD recruiter Don Whiteside of HFS Consultants, Oakland, CA met with members of the District Board, representatives from the community, medical staff, and employees. A search committee has been formed to include Board of Director members Ron Peavy, and Michael Hartstein, administrative members Rudy Shutta, and Vahan Demlakian, employees Uli Crezee, Nancy McGivney, Larry Cooke, and Renee Marquez, and community members Jim Gonzales, Micki Plummer and Jack Briner complete the search committee. This group will work with the recruiter and hospital administration to identify and help choose the finalist candidates for CEO. The District Board will interview the finalists and make a decision in early Fall. Whiteside also reported that there has been a positive response to the initial outreach for candidates.
