Hospital Board Seeks Applicants For Open Seat

Big Bear, Ca, January 5, 2011, 4:00pm – The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District is looking for someone to join the board after James Gonzales resigned from the Board of Directors effective December 29, 2011.  The Board will hold a meeting on Wednesday, January 25, in which board members may appoint someone for the open seat.  Anyone interested in being appointed is required to submit a District approved form questionnaire, a brief summary of the person’s interest, qualifications and background. Big Bear’s Biggest Loser Is Back

Big Bear Valley, CA, December 19, 2011, 9:00am – Mountain Fitness Center on Fox Farm Road is once again putting on Big Bear’s Biggest Loser.  Owners Heather and Ted Devito organized the program a few years back with successful results in those who participated, and they’re bringing it back again to help Big Bear get healthy. Big Bear’s Biggest Loser is a 9-week exercise and weight-loss program that starts on January 16th. Group sessions will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, with no more than 12 people at a time. Ted Devito says the program is intended to create motivation and inspire participants who need to lose 50 pounds or more. The program offers more than just exercise, it’s an educational experience, and participants will learn about proper nutrition, the difference between muscle and fat, and how to make healthy food choices. Sessions will be presented in thee phases, base conditioning, strength, and power. Participants will also get 2 one-on-one consultations with a weight loss coach. The program includes weekly giveaways for admirable effort, teamwork, consistency, and weight loss. At the end of the program $500 in cash prizes will be awarded. Medical Arts Pharmacy Screens For Osteoporosis

Big Bear, Ca, October 21, 2011, 3:00pm – Medical Arts Pharmacy, Big Bear’s Good Neighbor Pharmacy, is hosting a free osteoporosis screening on Monday October 24th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.  Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time, and affects over 10 million people in the United States.   This will be the third year Medical Arts Pharmacy has held the free screening, and last year they served over 100 women and men.  “Our goal is to help women and men be proactive when it comes to Osteoporosis,” said Gloria Wandel, owner of Medical Arts Pharmacy.  The local Good Neighbor Pharmacy is part of the Osteoporosis Foundation, and will have a licensed technician providing the free screenings.  The screening is free for all, and everyone is encouraged to attend. Spots Still Available For Healthcare Provider Certification

Big Bear, Ca, October 19, 2011, 12:00pm – The Big Bear Lake Fire Department will be conducting a Healthcare Provider certification class this Saturday, October 22 for individuals in the healthcare profession such as physicians, nurses, EMTs, lifeguards, etc.  The certification is a step above the CPR/ AED certification, and is required for healthcare professionals.  The training will provide in depth medical and procedural information for those who treat or assist in the treating of patients.  The certification is good for two years.  The October 22 class will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Big Bear Lake Fire Department, 41090 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake.  Class size is limited so reserve your seat with a $50 per person fee, which must be paid prior to the class.  Attendees will receive American Heart Association reference materials and a two year Healthcare Provider certification card.   To reserve your spot today call...
