Big Bear Firefighters Climb for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

Big Bear, CA, February 11th, 2016 – Big Bear firefighters will compete in the “Scott Firefighter Stairclimb” in Seattle, Washington on March 6, 2016.  This is the 7th year Big Bear’s local firefighters have participated in this test of endurance to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Firefighters will climb 69 flights of stairs in Seattle’s tallest building, the Columbia Center Tower.  These participants will be dressed in full gear including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and yet some of the fastest firefighters will complete this task in a brief 10 minutes. 20th Annual Run for the Grizzlies – A Motorcycle Poker Run

Big Bear Lake, CA September 7, 2015 – The friends of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo invite you to their 20th Annual Run for the Grizzlies on September 12, 2015 from 9am to 4pm.  This year’s event will be held at 630 Bartlett Rd in the Village, behind the Chamber of Commerce.  This is an annual fundraiser supporting the Big Bear Alpine Zoo’s grizzly bears.  They plan to use the funds to help build a modern habitat for their family of bears after relocating the zoo to a larger property. The event will be open to the public and all motorcycles are welcome.  There will be opportunity drawings, silent auctions, prizes, a Chapter Challenge, vendors, live music, and the BBQ and drinks will be provided by their co-host, Chad’s Place.  There will be seven poker stops around Big Bear Lake, including a stop at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo to visit the grizzlies. “Celebrate Your Love” of Nature at the Discovery Center

Fawnskin, CA, February 4, 2014 – The Southern California Mountains Foundation is presenting a “Celebrate Your Love” Benefit for the Discovery Center this Saturday, February 8th, at the Discovery Center, as a culmination of their holiday fund raising campaign to raise the $25,000 needed to continue the high level of service, programming and education provided by the Center. The Discovery Center welcomes 190,000 visitors annually and benefits youth education through a variety of programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels here in the Big Bear Valley. Tickets for the fund raising event to “Benefit the Discovery Center” are $50 per person and available online at www.MountainsFoundation.org. The evening includes a no-host cocktail reception; a silent auction with fantastic items including 4 Dodgers season passes with parking, 2 season passes to the Music in the Mountains summer concert series, and great local business gift certificates; dinner, generously donated by Northwoods Resort; and a short program. The Mitsubishi Cement Corporation’s Educational Foundation presents the 4th annual Ride in the Rocks. The fundraiser features 10- and 22-mile mountain bike courses, a five-mile family ride and a five-mile walk/run.
