Today’s BBHS CIF Playoff Game Moved to Lucerne Valley

Kriss Proctor Named MVP In Last Game

Big Bear, Ca, December 12, 2011, 12:00pm – Big Bear’s Kriss Proctor said goodbye to the football field on Saturday after the Naval Academy played the United States Military Academy in the arch rival game.  This was Proctors last game as the Navy Quarterback, as he will be graduating from the Naval Academy and has been assigned the position of Naval Flight Officer in the United States Navy.   Proctor scored the first touchdown, and later a second, helping Navy win their 10th straight game against Army, resulting in Proctor being named as the most valuable player of the game.   Many locals tuned in and watched the game to cheer on Proctor, and members from Coldwell banker, and Proctors family attended the game that was held in Landover, Maryland, just north of Washington DC.  President Barack Obama was even in attendance at the football game that has been occurring for the last 112 years.  KBHR congratulates Proctor on a great finish to the season, and wishes him luck in his future...

Bears Set State Record in Eight Overtimes

Big Bear, Ca, October 17, 2011, 4:00pm – The Big Bear High School Football team has something to cheer about, after they set a state record at last Friday’s football game against Desert Hot Springs.  The game went into overtime eight times, with game play finally ending at 11:20pm.  The Bears won the game in the eighth overtime with a final score of 56-50 in the opening game for the De Anza League.  The previous California state record for overtimes was a seven-overtime game in 1991. Coach Dave Griffiths was very proud of the team, and stated that this game was one of the best games he has ever been involved with.  The Bear’s next game will be against Yucca Valley this coming Saturday.  KBHR congratulates the Bears, and wishes them luck this season. Big Bear High School Alumni Come Home This Weekend

Big Bear, Ca, September 21, 2011, 12:00pm – This coming weekend many familiar faces may be seen around town as Big Bear High School will have its Homecoming.  The Homecoming football game will take place this Saturday at the Big Bear Middle School field, with the JV football game starting at 10:45am with the Varsity Game to follow.  There will be floats at the varsity game with a special half time show where a new Homecoming queen will be crowned.  This year the nominees for Homecoming include: Megan Bloch, Kelly Anderson, Chelsea Vaughn, Tara Hubbard, Luz Navarrete, with two honorary homecoming princesses, foreign exchange students Samara Rickman from New Zealand, and Henrike Boeckmann from Germany.  The dance will take place Saturday night from 8:00 to 11:00pm at Big Bear High School.  Reunions planned for this year include the 10 year reunion for the class of 2001, and a joint reunion for the classes of 1980 & 1981.  According to BBHS ASB Clerk Sharon Newkirk many alums come to the homecoming game.  Newkirk also told KBHR that to kick off Homecoming weekend Big Bear High will be holding a battle of the bands on Friday night at 7:00pm featuring students, faculty and...
