Drayden Gardner Goes To World Heli Challenge

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 31, 2012, 8:00am – Local 12-year-old Drayden Gardner continues to reach new heights in the sport of snowboarding. Drayden has been chosen as one of only two junior snowboarders invited to participate in the World Heli Challenge in New Zealand. As a Young Gun in the Challenge, he will compete alongside the 30 main event snowboarding and skiing athletes. Drayden’s snowboarding career so far includes a long list of accomplishments including 4th place in the USASA Nationals in Halfpipe, 8th place in the USASA Nationals in Slopestyle, 1st place in the Gatorade Free Flow and many, many more for 2012. Drayden’s main goal is to compete in the most elite board sport contests world wide including all TTR ranked events, X-Games and US Olympics for snowboarding. Already, he has competed in over 200 competitions in both snow and skate. Drayden was recently on KABC TV talking about skateboarding and his trip to New Zealand. Fundraiser for Local Snowboarder Drayden Gardner

Big Bear, CA, June 18, 2012, 8:00am – Local 12-year-old Drayden Gardner continues to reach new heights in the sport of snowboarding.  Drayden has been chosen as one of only two junior snowboarders invited to participate in the World Heli Challenge in Wanaka, New Zealand.  As a Young Gun in the Challenge, he will compete alongside the 30 main event snowboarding and skiing athletes this July 31st through August 16th.  Drayden’s snowboarding career so far includes a long list of accomplishments including 4th place in the USASA Nationals in Halfpipe, 8th place in the USASA Nationals in Slopestyle, 1st place in the Gatorade Free Flow and many, many more for 2012.  Drayden’s main goal is to compete in the most elite board sport contests world wide including all TTR ranked events, X-Games and US Olympics for snowboarding.  Already, he has competed in over 200 competitions in both snow and skate.  As a community, we can help send Drayden to New Zealand at a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Old Country Inn on Wednesday, June 20th beginning at 4pm to closing.  Dinner is $5.99 per plate with the option to purchase raffle tickets for prizes. Local Boys Compete at the USASA 23rd National Championships in Colorado

  Copper Mtn, CO, April 11, 2012, 8:00am – Seven local Big Bear boys attended the USASA 23rd National Championships at Copper Mountain in Colorado held from March 31st to April 5th.  Drayden Gardner, a five-year veteran of the National Championships, took 4th place out of 69 riders in halfpipe and 8th place out of 75 riders in slopestyle for the Breaker Boys division aged 12 to 13.  Kolman Lecroy took 3rd overall out of 15 riders for the Grommet Boys aged 8 to 9.  Evan Heckman took 2nd overall, Jaromie Nolan took 4th overall and Adam Eisenman took 6th overall out of six riders for the Open Class Men’s Division.  Justin Hill took 7th overall out of 14 riders for the Menehune Boys ages 10 to 11.  In the Skier Men Division, Tucker Keating placed 2nd overall in the 13 to 15 aged boys.  Since 1988, USASA has fostered the competitive spirit of snowboard athletes and developed a solid grassroots organization that allows boys and girls of all ages and abilities to participate in over 500 organized snowboard events that qualify for national and international competition.  The United States of America Snowboard Association, or USASA, events have represented the recreational and competitive interests of amateur snowboarding and freeskiing in the United States supporting 33 series across the country.  Their goal is to promote safe, fair, and fun events while fostering a competitive...

Skateboard Contest Raises $1000 for Big Bear Teen Center

Big Bear, Ca, September 12, 2011, 12:00pm – This weekend Big Bear’s own 11 year old Drayden Gardner hosted a skateboarding contest at the Sugarloaf skateboard park.  The contest was Drayden’s way of thanking the community for all of their support over the past few years while he has competed in skateboarding and snowboarding competitions throughout the US.  The contest had over 40 participants, and in the 12 and under category Matthew Wilcox took first place followed by Drayden Gardner and Jordan Karasch.  In the 13 to 15 category Sean Monahan took first followed by Jaromie Nolan, and David Baird.  In the 16 and up category Matt Harvey took first followed by Roy Canright and Charles Richards, and in the girls category Melissa Spillman took first followed by Pauline Branom, and Summer Wilcox.  According to Holly Gardner, the event was a huge success, a lot of fun, and $1000 was raised for the Big Bear Teen...

11 Year Old Drayden Gardner Thanks Community With Skateboard Contest!

Big Bear, Ca, September 5, 2011, 4:00pm – Big Bear’s own Skateboard and Snowboard phenom, 11 year old Drayden Gardner is hosting a skateboarding contest this Saturday, September 10th.  Drayden, who has been competing both in snowboarding and skateboarding for the past few years wanted to do something to thank the community for all of the support given to him to help him get to nationals this past year, and years previous.  Drayden with the help of his father Chase, created a special Big Bear skateboard for the winners of the contest.  The contest will take place at the Sugarloaf Skate Park, and will start with practice at 9:00am, and competition starting at 10:00am.  As Drayden is thanking the community by hosting the skateboarding contest- proceeds from the days event will go to the Big Bear Teen Center.  For more information about the contest call...
