Butcher Family Builds a Tradition

Big Bear, Ca April 20, 2011 8:00 am – Glenn Butcher grew up in Big Bear.  When his father, Bob Butcher opened Butcher’s Block Hardware in 1980, Glenn grew up in the business.  He started in the yard, drove a delivery truck, and worked the contractor’s desk before taking over as General Manager after his father passed away in 2007.  Glenn and his knowledgeable staff have many years experience with the unique challenges Big Bear offers for builders and homeowners.  Local contractor, Michael Beveridge believes the service Butcher’s Block offers saves his company money.  “They deliver to my job site, choose the best lumber for my project, and their prices are good.  Considering my time and the cost of gas, I do better buying from Butcher’s Block.”  Glenn says, “We’re a family oriented business and we always want to give back to the community.”  Their staff includes over 30 local residents.  Butcher’s Block has been located on the corner of Big Bear and Summit Blvds since 1988.  Their website says it well, “Above and beyond is our standard commitment to you.” [audio:http://kbhr933.com/wp-content/uploads/SP30621.mp3|titles=Butcher’s Block Hardware a Family...

Big Bear Contractors are Good Neighbors

Big Bear, Ca March 22, 2011 8:00 am – The Big Bear Valley Contractors Association is working hard to build good relationships with the community.  All members are expected to be licensed and in good standing with the Contractors State Licensing Board, part of the California Department of Consumer Affairs.  Members are also encouraged to be part of the Community Contractor Program in conjunction with the Lighthouse Project.  Community Contractors pledge to maintain clean and safe work sites, be considerate parking their work vehicles, refrain from using alcohol and foul language at work sites, and be aware that children are likely watching.  Board member, Bob Ludecke says, “The Big Bear Valley Contractors Association is all about educating the contractors, promoting the construction industry, and building good relationships with the community.”  The Association helps homeowners find reliable contractors, helps youth interested in the building industry with scholarships and information, and keeps their members informed about changes in the industry.  For a current list of architects, engineers, contractors, and associated businesses in the Big Bear Valley Contractors Association, go to the association website at bbvca.com or call (909) 585-5445.
