Big Bear Lake Welcomes New Director Of Public Works & Engineering

Big Bear Lake, CA – John Harris will be appointed as the City’s new Director of Public Works and Engineering beginning September 5, 2017. John currently serves as the Public Works Director for the City of Montrose, Colorado, is a licensed Professional Engineer and graduate of the University of Arizona. Montrose is located between Telluride and Grand Junction with a population of approximately 18,000.  The similar dynamics and terrain of Montrose to Big Bear Lake have well prepared John for a position with the City. He is highly experienced in construction, engineering, infrastructure, and utility management. John’s extensive leadership skills will serve the City of Big Bear Lake well as they continue moving forward with significant projects and operations. Bear Valley Electric ‘Throws the Switch’

Big Bear Lake, CA – Bear Valley Electric Service has completed construction on relocating three miles of power poles and electrical wires to state-of-the-art underground conduits along Big Bear Boulevard. The project, conducted in tandem with sidewalk upgrades by the City of Big Bear Lake, improves safety, reliability and aesthetics along Big Bear’s main tourist thoroughfare. July 4th Traffic Plan – No Left Turns on Big Bear Blvd

The July 4th event traffic plan will be in effect following this year’s fireworks celebration.  The City of Big Bear Lake with the enforcement efforts of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department along with the California Highway Patrol want to help ease some of the traffic tangles that traditionally follow the fireworks show.   Motorists will make right hand turns only entering Big Bear Blvd. from Georgia to Temple Streets.
