Hospital Asks For Votes in $25,000 competition

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 9, 2013 – Bear Valley Community Hospital is participating in a YouTube phenomenon, and now they need your help. They’ve created a Medline Pink Gloves Dance Video as part of a nationwide competition promoting breast cancer awareness and prevention. Our Healthcare District has a chance to win up to $25,000 for the Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley Mammogram Program. The public is invited to view the video this Friday, October 11th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Summit Christian Church (41965 Garstin Drive in Big Bear Lake). Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Clubs or organizations who can’t attend this week’s screening can arrange a special Sneak Peek of the BVCHD Pink Gloves Dance Video by calling (909) 725-7329.  All videos will be posted beginning October 25 on pinkglovedance.com, where the public can go online to vote for the video. Healthcare District Seeks New CFO

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 23, 2013 – The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District (BVCHD) has begun recruitment for a new Chief Financial Officer, following the resignation of Rudy Shutta. In addition to working as the CFO, Shutta has acted as the interim CEO twice and for the past several months had been working on the budget to keep the Brenda Boss Family Resource Center on track.  Now. after seven years with the District, Shutta is moving to a lower elevation for medical reasons. CEO Raymond Hino stated, “This District owes Rudy a huge debt of gratitude that it can never repay for the years of service that he has given.” While the District searches for a permanent replacement, Joe Demont will serve as the Interim CFO. Hino said that Demont’s work as CFO of the Tehachapi Hospital helped make it into a very pro?table critical access hospital. A BVCHD spokesperson says they anticipate several quali?ed candidates to apply for the permanent CFO position....

Bear Valley Community Healthcare District Board of Directors Conduct Special Business Meeting Tonight

Big Bear, CA, May 28, 2013 – The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District will conduct a Special Board of Directors Business meeting tonight.  Agenda items include discussion of special tax levies within the hospital district, the hiring of Parcel Tax Consultants and review of the BVCHD medical staff bylaws.  Additionally, the board will set a date for a review of the 2012/2013 Strategic Plan for future discussion.  Also of interest, a report will be presented by the Interim Human Resource Manager, Harold Grayson, in light of recent hospital staff reductions.  Closed session begins at 4:30pm with the open session beginning at 6:30pm.  There will be a public forum for both the closed and open session giving the opportunity for members of the public to address the Board with a time limit of three minutes per speaker.  The meeting will be held in the hospital’s conference room located at 41870 Garstin...

Hospital hires new Interim Human Resources Manager

Big Bear Lake, CA, May 13, 2013 – The Bear Valley Community Health Care District (BVCHD) has retained the services of a new Interim Human Resources (HR) manager. Harold Grayson has decades of experience as a Human Resources Manager, including hospital experience, having worked at Loma Linda University Medical Center and White Memorial Medical Center in HR Management positions.  He has an MBA from La Sierra University, Riverside and a BS and MA from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster and is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. The Boston native moved to California with his wife in 1998 for a warmer climate. They currently live in Riverside, but Mr. Grayson will be living in Big Bear four days a week as he helps the hospital move forward with their restructuring proposal. He will be involved with organizing three trainings specifically designed for staff and managers: Stress Management, Organizational Change/Downsizing, and Embracing Workplace Diversity. All trainings will be presented by the Holman Group, who are pioneers in managed behavioral health care. Health Center extends hours

Big Bear Lake, CA, May 1, 2013 –  The Bear Valley Community Healthcare District’s Family Health Center (FHC) is about to become more accessible. Starting May 6, 2013, they are extending the midweek evening hours to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The extended hours have become necessary to meet the ever increasing needs of the community. BVCHD clinics have experienced a 26% growth in patient volume over the past two years — consistently seeing between 1,100 to 1,500 visits per month combined.
