Sara Russ Maps Out Priorities For Healthcare District

Big Bear Lake, CA, February 5, 2014 – After serving a little more than a year on the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District (BVCHD) Board of Directors, Sara Russ is taking the reins. Her fellow board members elected officers last week, and named her President, an election she calls “a rare opportunity that comes with great responsibility.” Russ joined the BVCHD board in November of 2012, serving on the finance committee. She says her main objectives in 2014 include an affiliation agreement, passing the parcel tax, reducing expenses, increasing patient volume, renegotiating employee union contracts, increasing services through telemedicine, and improving the overall quality of the Skilled Nursing Unit. She is also calling for a profitability analysis of each department. A Big Bear resident for three decades, Russ previously spent five years as CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, and two years in the Event Resource Office. Women and Children Have a New Local Resource

Big Bear Lake, CA, December 27, 2013 – Big Bear Women, Infants, and Children–OR “WIC”– CLinic is now open at the Brenda Boss Family Resource Center at the Bear Valley Community Hospital on Garstin Drive. The WIC clinic will be open Monday and Tuesday, 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM. Healthcare District Has Healthy Chance of Winning; Keep Voting!

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 30, 2013 – As of yesterday, Bear Valley Community Hospital’s entry into the Medline Pink Gloves Dance Video competition was in 7th place. That brings them close to winning a substantial sum for the Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley Mammogram Program: the winnings are $5,000 for third place, $10,000 for second place and $25,000 for first place. Raising the stakes even higher, an anonymous donor has pledged to match any cash prize. This is the third annual competition sponsored by Medline to promote breast cancer awareness and prevention. This year, 80,000 people were featured in 110 video entries, which represent the majority of U.S. states plus Panama. Our hospital’s entry features KBHR announcer Steve Cassling and local healthcare workers. The more votes the video gets, the higher its ranking, and one vote can be made each day from each email address through November 8 at midnight. Hospital Asks For Votes in $25,000 competition

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 9, 2013 – Bear Valley Community Hospital is participating in a YouTube phenomenon, and now they need your help. They’ve created a Medline Pink Gloves Dance Video as part of a nationwide competition promoting breast cancer awareness and prevention. Our Healthcare District has a chance to win up to $25,000 for the Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley Mammogram Program. The public is invited to view the video this Friday, October 11th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Summit Christian Church (41965 Garstin Drive in Big Bear Lake). Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
