UPDATE: Deceased Suspect Forrett Sustained Multiple Gunshot Wounds

Big Bear, CA, March 3, 2013 – UPDATE: Another manhunt has ended in suicide off of Highway 38, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Just after 1pm on March 2, deputies from the Yucaipa Station acted on a tip that Brian Forrett’s white Buick was parked in a highway turnout near Angelus Oaks. The deputies  discovered the fugitive sitting in the driver’s seat, deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. The  Department’s Homicide Detail  responded to  investigate and found that Forrett had additional gunshot wounds to his body. These may have been sustained during the March 2 shooting in the 11900 block of 2nd Street in Yucaipa, the incident that sparked a search for Forrett’s vehicle Forrett after he fled the scene. Highway 38 Closed Due to Police Activity

Big Bear, CA, March 2, 2013 – Highway 38 is currently closed in both directions due to police activity in the area of Barton Flats.  Kbear sources say that authorities have located the vehicle of suspect Brian Forrett who is wanted for attempted murder of a peace officer.  Yesterday morning, Yucaipa deputies responded to a report of an unwanted person and were met with gunfire.  Additionally, the patrol car was rammed by the suspect who was later identified as 52-year-old Brian Forrett of Riverside.  Stay tuned to KBHR for this breaking...
