Mom & Dad Project Receives Grant to Provide Free Car Seats

Big Bear, CA, January 26, 2017 – In August of 2016, Bear Valley Community Healthcare District’s Mom & Dad Project applied for a grant to provide car seats to help parents and caregivers abide by the new car seat law effective January 2017. Health Care District Hires New COO-CFO

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 16, 2014 – BVCHD Board of Directors announced Monday that effective immediately, the District has hired Wade Sturgeon to assume the position of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Sturgeon has been serving as Interim Chief Financial Officer for the District since August 20. According to Sara Russ, President of the Board, they have been greatly impressed by the many positive changes to their operations, that have been implemented in such a short time by Mr. Sturgeon. In addition to his duties as CFO, Wade will assume administrative responsibility for the Family Health Center and all areas included in the Brenda Boss Resource Center. He is a graduate of Boise State University and has been working in Rural/Critical Access hospitals since 1997 having previous experience as both a Hospital CEO and CFO. Raymond Hino, District CEO, believes that with that experience and his track record of financial turnarounds, Mr. Sturgeon will do well and be an asset to the District. Big Bear Lake, CA, December 27, 2013 – Big Bear Women, Infants, and Children–OR “WIC”– CLinic is now open at the Brenda Boss Family Resource Center at the Bear Valley Community Hospital on Garstin Drive. The WIC clinic will be open Monday and Tuesday, 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM. The WIC Supplemental Nutrition Program is a federally-funded health and nutrition program for: women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just had a baby, children under 5 years old (including foster children), and families with low to medium income (working families may qualify.) Bear Valley Community Hospital Parking Area Under Construction

Ground Breaking for New “Brenda Boss Family Resource Center”

Big Bear Lake, CA, May 9, 2012, 3:00pm – Under sunny, blue skies the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District broke ground on Wednesday morning for a new facility on hospital property on Garstin Drive.  The new facility will be known as The Brenda Boss Family Resource Center to honor Brenda Boss for her years of dedication and determination towards improving healthcare in Big Bear.  Board of Director for the Bear Valley Community Hospital, Brad Summers, addressed the crowd with introductions and thanks for those who have helped to set this project up for success.  The Brenda Boss Family Resource Center project is the first expansion of the hospital campus since 1974.  Dignitaries on hand included Dr. Peter Boss who is a physician in the hospital’s emergency room and son of Brenda Boss.  Dr. Boss reiterated his mother’s passion for a hospital in Big Bear with “as long as I can remember, my mother wanted a hospital in Big Bear and I wanted to become a doctor”.  In 1949, Dr. Boss was born in Big Bear in the doctor’s office that now houses Murray’s Saloon.  As early as 1955, Mrs. Boss’ dream of building a hospital began when she formed the Bear Valley Community Health Fund.  And, Dr. Boss commented that the hospital would not exist without the support of this community.   The Brenda Boss Family Resource Center will house the...
