Easter Egg Food Safety

Big Bear, Ca April 20, 2011 12:00 pm – Coloring, hiding, and hunting for eggs is a tradition for many families at Easter.  To make your holiday safe, remember several food safety tips.    If you choose to eat the eggs used in an egg hunt, it is important that they are not cracked, hidden in areas where dirt or bacteria may contaminate them, and that they are not out of the refrigerator for more than 2 hours.  Use food grade dye and always wash your hands prior to preparing the eggs.  Immediately dispose of eggs that become cracked in the cooking or dying process, and any eggs that are found after 2 hours outside of the refrigerator.  To ensure safety, it may be easiest to make a separate set of eggs for decorating and hiding.  For a happy holiday, include food safety in your family traditions. Butcher Family Builds a Tradition

Big Bear, Ca April 20, 2011 8:00 am – Glenn Butcher grew up in Big Bear.  When his father, Bob Butcher opened Butcher’s Block Hardware in 1980, Glenn grew up in the business.  He started in the yard, drove a delivery truck, and worked the contractor’s desk before taking over as General Manager after his father passed away in 2007.  Glenn and his knowledgeable staff have many years experience with the unique challenges Big Bear offers for builders and homeowners.  Local contractor, Michael Beveridge believes the service Butcher’s Block offers saves his company money.  “They deliver to my job site, choose the best lumber for my project, and their prices are good.  Considering my time and the cost of gas, I do better buying from Butcher’s Block.”  Glenn says, “We’re a family oriented business and we always want to give back to the community.”  Their staff includes over 30 local residents.  Butcher’s Block has been located on the corner of Big Bear and Summit Blvds since 1988.  Their website says it well, “Above and beyond is our standard commitment to you.” [audio:http://kbhr933.com/wp-content/uploads/SP30621.mp3|titles=Butcher’s Block Hardware a Family...
