World-Class Drivers at Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

Long Beach, CA April, 15, 2015 – The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach returns this weekend so it’s time to enjoy some turbocharged action.  Motor sports racing is one of America’s favorite spectator sports.   I don’t need to explain to passionate sports fans why that is.   Motorsports racing delivers the burning desire to win, professional race teams, young athletes and an undeniable element of adrenaline fed danger. The featured race is Sunday afternoon’s Verizon IndyCar Series event, which features an international field of world-class drivers expected to include: defending Series champion Will Power; three-time series champ Scott Dixon; Long Beach winners Takuma Sato, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves and Sebastien Bourdais, along with Graham Rahal and Marco Andretti. Series will have cars with turbocharged engines and all-new aero kits supplied by Honda and Chevrolet “The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach” has proven over 41 years, that a formula of blending top notch motorsports with an uptown seaside street festival is one longest running and single biggest sporting events in Southern California with over 175,000 paid spectators.  This race is a favorite among the racers as well for exactly the same reasons. Friday through Sunday April 17 – 19 the 1.97 mile street circuit will feature a pro/celebrity race, Formula Drift, TUDOR United Sports Car Championship, Indy Lights, Pirelli World Challenge, a wild off road race and the third...

KBHR Motor Sports Report

The KBHR motorsports report is up next …   fueled with passion .. driven on the edge.  20 years ago .. Senna .. the F1 racer will killed in Imola, Italy, in fact he was described as perhaps one of the best drivers of all time but that shocking weekend began with the death of Austrian rookie Ratzenberger as well.  All worth mentioning as Motorsports is one of the biggest spectator sports perhaps because the high risk and reward nature is fueled by passion for the automobile. This Sunday is the Greystone Concours at the Greystone Mansion in the hills above Beverly Hills.  For Jay Lenno and other car collecting stars it’s an A list event.  A beautiful estate setting, fine food and beverages included makes this one of best shows on the west coast. The newly formed IMSA Tudor United Sportscar Championship visits Laguna Seca this weekend, a track known for delivering the best road course action in the beautiful setting of Monterey in central California. Almost any race at that track is worth the journey. The high speed track of Talladega will host the NASCAR Sprint and nationwide series this weekend.  Talladega and Daytona have been described as the some of the most exciting of the season. Open Wheel racing has the weekend off as Formula one prepares for Spain and Indycar readys for the Indianapolis road course....

Big Bear Rolls with Monterey Peninsula Auto Week

Monterey CA, August 22, 2011 8:00 am:   The results from the Monterey Peninsula for Big Bear were impressive in more ways than one.   The Concourse Italiano was well attended and the presentation and setting at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch was better than any previous year.  The cars were the best collection of Italian cars found anywhere perhaps outside Italy.  Besides such names as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati one of the brand marks that attracted a lot of attention was the Fiat Abarth of Sam Cabiglio of Big Bear City.   Sam, who is a renowned sports car collector, exotic car dealer and Porsche expert along with his son Gianni spent most of the day delightfully describing their small Italian gem.   If the day was not long enough, later that afternoon Sam was called upon to help verify the authenticity of the serial number of a very rare and valuable 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS.  This perticular RS serial number was questioned in an on-line chat room prior to it’s possible sale at the RM auction.  High drama is created when hundreds of thousands of dollars are hanging on such verifications.  In a weird twist a very similar 911 RS was being auctioned the next night at Russo and Steele and then with several helpers in tow, Cabiglio was able to get access and compare the serial numbers appearances.  As the...

San Bernardino National Forest Creates New Motor Vehicle Use Map, Available Free of Charge

The San Bernardino National Forest implemented the new Motor Vehicle Use Map this week, which, per Forest Supervisor Jeanne Wade Evans, puts them in compliance with the U.S. Forest Service Travel Management Rule. The new map is available to the public, free of charge, and identifies the system of designated roads and motorized trails available on the San Bernardino National Forest. The map identifies the roads and trails specifically designated for motor vehicle use, and also includes other public roads for navigational purposes; the new map does not display non-motorized recreational uses or facilities, so a Forest Visitor Map is still recommended for general information. Of the new maps, Forest Recreation Supervisor Fran Colwell says, “Public input and internal analyses helped point out specific locations for consideration while working through this process. Information the public shared with us helped update our road and trail data and our maps.” The new Motor Vehicle Use Map for the San Bernardino National Forest, which will be updated annually or as needed, will soon be available at the Big Bear Discovery Center and is currently available online, on the Off-Highway Vehicle page of the San Bernardino National Forest’s...

Sam Cabiglio of Big Bear City Recognized For His Porsche Expertise

Sam Cabiglio of Big Bear City, California is an expert on many thing’s that are related to automobiles, but what makes him very special is his connection and knowledge of Porsche and Porsche racing history.  Check out the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Porsche Video with Sam Cabiglio. Besides being a collector of  sports cars and collector cars he has developed a business finding special cars for car collector clients around the world.  With offices in Long Beach, California and now in the Monterey Bay  area of California he has found special cars for the likes of Jerry Seinfeld.  Some of Seinfeld’s collection of rare Porsches includes the 600 horsepower 1969 917 Porsche used and owned by Steve McQueen for the famous race movie “Le Mans” staring Steve McQueen.  And if that wasn’t enough, Seinfeld also owns the 1970 Porsche 908/03 named the “Giant Killer” because it’s compact agile size, light weight and ability to dominate races at Nurburging in Germany and Targo Florio in Italy.  It went on to help Porsche clinch the 1970 Jerry Seinfeld’s exhibition run at the 2009 Rolex Historic Races championship halfway through that race season.  Then the “Giant Killer” raced for much of he 1970’s with an astounding and hard to imagine, 1979 Le Mans finish of 2nd place overall.  Both cars were show at the Rolex Historic Races on Saturday August 15 and...
