Resort Association Turning 20, Changing Name

Big Bear Lake, CA, December 4, 2013 – The Big Bear Lake Resort Association is now doing business as the Big Bear Visitors Bureau. The name change was approved by the Association’s board of directors at its last board meeting in November. Director of Operations Rebecca Hrabia explained, “‘Resort Association’ is not a common term used in the travel industry. We have progressed so much over the years that it was only fitting to change our name to something that ties in well with our mission to promote tourism in Big Bear.” The name change comes in time for the organization’s 20-year anniversary in 2014. Big Bear Visitors Bureau is a voluntary membership-based organization charged with marketing the Big Bear Valley. Voluntary membership dues give it a marketing budget of over $1,000,000, which pays for television and radio advertising, broadcast promotions, publicity, Internet, Central reservations and collateral materials, including the Big Bear Lake Visitor’s Guide and the Where to Eat, Shop & Play...

RA Appoints Rebecca Hrabia As Ops Director

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 8, 2012 – Rebecca Hrabia will step into the role of Director of Operations at the Big Bear Lake Resort Association, following Rick Shoup’s resignation as President and CEO to spend more time with his family. Hrabia has been with the Resort Association since 2004, and she’s credited with increasing sales dramatically and improving the phone and computer systems. RA Board of Directors President Joyce Reed said in a press release, “Rebecca was an easy choice to fill the leadership role for the RA. She has keen knowledge of industry trends and is always looking out for our members’ best interests. She has strong managerial skills and she has a tireless devotion for the continued success of the RA.” Ms. Reed added, “We thank Rick Shoup for his great work he provided the RA since its inception as a marketing consultant and more recently as president and CEO.” BBLRA is in the process of reorganizing its structure, which includes a more active role from the Board of Directors with day-to-day operations.
