City Council Reaffirms Ban on Marijuana Dispensaries

Big Bear Lake, CA, January 13, 2016 – On Monday evening, the Big Bear Lake City Council received a presentation from staff regarding the continuation of a ban on medical marijuana cultivation, dispensaries, and delivery services in all zones of the City of Big Bear Lake. Honoring Dick Kun

Big Bear Lake, CA, April 30, 2015 – On Monday evening in Hofert Hall, Mayor Dave Caretto and the Big Bear Lake City Council invited the community to join them in honoring Dick Kun. They were there to acknowledge Dick for his decades of exceptional stewardship of Big Bear’s two resorts and service to this community. Dick’s attention to snowmaking, lift-line management, and customer service have created two world class resorts that bring close to a million skiers and snowboarders to our mountain community every year. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are critical in helping to drive the economy of Big Bear. Dick also helped create the Resort Association, now known as the Visitor’s Bureau. He recognized the value of having Big Bear businesses work together to help give visitors to our valley a better, more full service experience while staying in our community. Dick has also helped by lending his voice and expertise to many local organizations and causes. He has been deeply involved with both the Rotary Club of Big Bear and the Big Bear Chamber of Commerce. Longtime, well known members of the community as well as dignitaries from the city, all pictured above, spoke eloquently in paying tribute to Dick Kun’s many years of service to our community. Big Bear Lake City Council Selects New Mayor

Big Bear Lake, CA, December 9, 2014 – The Big Bear Lake City Council met on Monday night in a largely ceremonial manner to thank former Mayor Jay Obernolte for his 4 years of service and to congratulate him on his successful run for the California State Assembly. Rick Herrick in his third term, David Caretto in his second term, and Randall Putz in his first term were sworn into office. In addition, the City Council performed its annual reorganization in which a new mayor and other chairs are selected and voted upon by the sitting council members. Unanimous votes were cast for Dave Caretto as Mayor and Bill Jahn as Mayor Pro-Tem. In addition, Rick Herrick was voted in as Chairman of the Big Bear Lake Fire Protection District, with Randy Putz taking the Vice Chairman’s position. The former Improvement Agency, now known as the Successor Agency, Chairmanship will be handled by Bob Jackowski. Mayor Caretto adjourned the council meeting in the name of Cheri Haggerty Lawrence who unexpectedly passed away on November 25th. A celebration of life and memorial service will be held for her tonight, Tuesday December 9, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. in Hofert Hall at the Performing Arts...
