Night on the Town Will Benefit Young Entrepreneurs

Big Bear Lake, CA, January 30, 2014 – The Big Bear Chamber of Commerce has scheduled their 5th Annual Gala, and announced its theme. “Denim & Diamonds” will be held at the Northwoods Resort on March 8th, from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., featuring country singer Brent Payne, old-time photography by Millener Productions and dinner. Because this is the organization’s major fundraising event, they are soliciting donations for a variety of auctions and raffles that will add fun to the evening. The financial support will help the Chamber continue for the second year business education for local youth. The free program was offered to high school students in its pilot year, designed to help them develop skills to “think outside the box” in creating their own businesses. Chamber Executive Director Pam Scannell says they would like to extend this training to students at Big Bear Middle School too. But with costs totaling $1,000 per student, fundraising items are crucial. To arrange a donation for “Denim & Diamonds,” call (909)...

Service Scheduled, Memorial Fund Established for Linda Enger

Big Bear Lake, CA, October 25, 2013 – Services have been scheduled for Linda Marie Enger (5/17/72 – 10/21/13) on Sunday, November 10th at The Community Church by the Lake at 3:00 p.m. Linda succumbed to cancer October 21st, and leaves behind her husband of 19 years, Danny Enger, and their 15-year-old son Brady. Linda was born in Rancho Cucamonga, and was set up on a blind date with Danny by his aunt and uncle on New Year’s Eve, 1990. Danny said about his wife, “Linda was always a caring person with a funny sense of humor and had a smile who could light up any room. Anyone who knew her pretty much instantly liked her. She had a great relationship with all of Brady’s friends, as well as all of my friends from Big Bear High School. She was instantly accepted into the Big Bear Lake group of friends. None of my friends ever said, ‘We’re going to Danny’s house, but Danny and Linda’s'”. The Linda Enger Memorial Fund has been established at First Mountain Bank to help with medical and burial expenses, and a portion will be donated to cancer research efforts. In addition, Maggio’s (42160 Big Bear Blvd.) will donate a portion of their sales from 11:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on November 6 to the Enger...
