SR 18 Pavement Rehabilitation Project To Begin Tomorrow

Big Bear, CA – The California Department of Transportation will begin a project to rehabilitate a portion of State Route 18 (Big Bear Blvd.) from Talmage Rd. by Red Ant Hill in Big Bear Lake, to Pineview Dr. by Dead Man’s Curve in Big Bear City, beginning Tuesday, August 1st. Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and there will be night closures from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.  There will be no lane closures Friday through Sunday. Motorists may experience delays during the flagging operation and Caltrans staff will be on site to monitor and direct traffic and minimize delays to the motoring public and community. Caltrans To Begin Repair Work on the Boulevard

Big Bear Lake, CA, July 5, 2016 – The California Department of Transportation has awarded a $3.1 million project to STL Incorporated that will repair and replace damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, including three traffic signals at various locations along State Route 18, or Big Bear Blvd., in Big Bear Lake from Pine Knot Avenue to Stanfield Cut-off. The sidewalks, curbs, and gutters are damaged from years of snow removal and base failure. The sidewalk and traffic signals are required to be upgraded to Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Slow Down for the Cone Zone

Big Bear City, CA, April 21, 2014 – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) starts work this week on a safety project near the airport in Big Bear City. This $469,000 project will improve Big Bear Blvd. at Big Tree Drive, widening the roadway and re-striping the intersection to provide one through-lane and a left-turn lane for both directions. Caltrans says that with the recent increase in highway traffic in that area, these improvements will enhance safety at this location. Crews will perform the majority of the work during nighttime hours, but daytime work may also occur with shoulder closures, if needed, and there will be sporadic traffic control with flagging. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.
