HEAP Assistance Scheduled For October 19th

Big Bear, Ca, October 7, 2011, 12:00pm – Bear Valley Electric Service is once again offering HEAP assistance application processing scheduled for Wednesday, October 19th.  Starting Wednesday morning at 9:30am, applications for HEAP, which stands for the Home Energy Assistance Program, will be accepted for the first 30 in line, another 20 applications will be processed at 3:30pm at the BVES offices located at 42020 Garstin Drive in Big Bear Lake. HEAP is offered to low-income families and, those who qualify, receive financial aid to pay for utility bills, gas service, electric or propane. Those applying for HEAP are asked to bring the following: current gas and electric bills or, for propane, a current invoice with account number; rental agreement or mortgage statement; California picture ID and Social Security card; and employment verification, including pay stubs for all prior 30-day periods for all household members. Power Outage in Upper Moonridge

Big Bear Lake, Ca April 8, 2011 3:00 pm – A widespread power outage in the Upper Moonridge area of Big Bear Lake today resulted from a small truck hitting a utility pole.  The accident occurred at Moonridge and Sheephorn Roads at approximately 12:30 pm.  Bear Valley Electric Service was able to isolate the problem and restore power to most customers by 1:30 pm.  It is expected that within the area of Silvertip and Sunset Drives the power may remain out up until 10:00 pm this evening. Power Out in Erwin Lake, Lake Williams and Parts of Big Bear City

UPDATE at 12:20pm:  Power has been restored to a majority of the east side of Big Bear City.  Power is still  out  in the areas of Erwin Lake and Lake Williams, and will continue to be out until crews are completed with repairs.  Bear Valley Electric is estimating 8 -10 hours to fix broken power lines.  Road crews have cleared the tree out of the roadway, and are conducting one way flagging on the roadway.  It will continue until repairs are completed.  Big Bear, Ca, March 20, 2011, 11:15am –According to Bear Valley Electric, currently all of Erwin Lake, Lake Williams, and parts of East Big Bear City are without power due to a large tree that fell on highway 38 due to high winds. Bear Valley Electric Crews have been sent out to fix the problem.  There is not a timeline for when power will return at this time.  There is a small detour for those traveling on Highway 38.  We will have more information for you as we receive...
