Big Bear Valley, CA, June 4, 2014 – Tuesday’s statewide primary election netted dominant wins for the Bear Valley Hospital Measure F extending the property tax assessments and Measure E, the transfer of the Rim Forest water system from Big Bear to Lake Arrowhead. A November runoff is also now in place for the Assembly seat of the 33rd District between local Mayor Jay Obernolte(R) and John Coffey(D). Measure F would extend the expiring parcel tax for 10 years, to support hospital services in the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District. County offices to be voted on include Assessor/Recorder, Auditor/Controller and the Sheriff/Coroner. Sara Russ Maps Out Priorities For Healthcare District

Big Bear Lake, CA, February 5, 2014 – After serving a little more than a year on the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District (BVCHD) Board of Directors, Sara Russ is taking the reins. Her fellow board members elected officers last week, and named her President, an election she calls “a rare opportunity that comes with great responsibility.” Russ joined the BVCHD board in November of 2012, serving on the finance committee. She says her main objectives in 2014 include an affiliation agreement, passing the parcel tax, reducing expenses, increasing patient volume, renegotiating employee union contracts, increasing services through telemedicine, and improving the overall quality of the Skilled Nursing Unit. She is also calling for a profitability analysis of each department.
