Distinguished Big Bear Residents to Receive ‘Eagle of Excellence’ Awards

Big Bear, CA, May 27, 2015 – The Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake will host its eighteenth annual “Eagle of Excellence” Community Service Awards Ceremony and Dinner on Sunday, June 7th. The dinner and awards ceremony is dedicated to honoring members of the Big Bear community that exhibit a very high caliber of professionalism, enthusiasm, work ethic and commitment to service, not only in their vocational field, but also in how they demonstrate excellence in the personal giving of time, energy and influence on others within the Bear Valley community. Since the Rotary Club began this program in 1998, over 91 individuals, mostly non­ Rotarians, have been honored with the “Eagle of Excellence” award. This year’s honorees include a distinguished group of Bear Valley residents from a variety of professions. The 2015 group of honorees include Renee Wagner, owner of the Barnstorm Restaurant who has volunteered her time with Rotary, Doves, and the Arts Council; Paul Senft, a software designer and IT lecturer who, among other things, has been very involved with the Big Bear Valley Education Trust and the AARP TaxAide Program, providing free tax services to seniors and low income families in Big Bear; Ed Wallace, who serves on the boards of the Sierra Club – Big Bear Group, the Bear Valley Trails Foundation, the Big Bear Valley Education Trust, and Friends of the Big Bear Valley;...

Art On The Lake Showcases California’s Talent

Big Bear, Ca, August 15, 2011 – The Arts Council of Big Bear Valley presents its 12th Annual Fine Arts Festival; “Art on the Lake” which  kicks off this Friday evening with an opening night artists reception from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Marina Resort. The reception is open to the public. On Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm attendees can see exceptional photographs, paintings, silver and gemstone jewelry, hand made furniture, and sculptors.  Over 40 artists from across Southern California will be exhibiting and selling their work.  Art on the Lake will take place under the tent at the Marina Resort, and admission to the event is free.  In addition to the art on display, there will also be live entertainment featuring a barber shop quartet.  A percentage of sales at the event will go back to the Arts Council of Big Bear Valley, whose primary mission is to promote arts and music in schools by getting instruments and instruction for children in grades Kindergarten through 12h grade.  For more information about Art on the Lake this weekend go to...
