Big Bear, CA, August 9, 2016 – The Pilot Fire, which started on Sunday, August 7, grew almost 2000 acres since yesterday. This morning, the fire is currently 6,298 acres with 6% containment. The Hwy. 173 closure has been extended from SR-138 to North Bay Road. Voluntary evacuations have been extended into the Lake Arrowhead area north of Peninsula Road, east of Brentwood Road, and west of North Bay Road. Update on the Pilot Fire

Big Bear, CA, August 8, 2016 – The Pilot Fire started at about 12:10 pm on Sunday, August 7, near the Miller Canyon OHV area off of Highway 138. The Forest Service is in Unified Command with CALFIRE, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and California Highway Patrol. This morning, the Forest Service used infrared mapping on the fire and updated the acreage to 4,500 acres with 5%containment. Highway 173 is closed between State Route 138 and Arrowhead Lake Road. Action Alert: Community Collecting Money for Typhoon Victims

Big Bear Lake, CA, November 14, 2013 – With thousands in the Philippines killed by Typhoon Haiyan and millions more running out of food, water and other essentials, local donations for victims are now being requested. Staff at the RE/MAX Big Bear offices are collecting checks to submit to the Inland Empire Red Cross for relief efforts in the storm-ravaged Philippines.
