The American Cancer Society offers some tips that can help you change your life in the new year. Quit Smoking  – People who quit smoking, regardless of their age, live longer than people who continue to smoke. Eat Healthy, Get Exercise, Lose Weight – Eating well along with being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight  is the best defense against diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Volunteer – Regardless of sex, ethnicity or other demographics, people who give time to help others have proven longer life expectancies.  Schedule necessary screenings and doctor appointments – As adults age, chances of being diagnosed with cancer and other medical conditions increase.
