Verizon Phone Lines Affected by the Snow

Big Bear Valley, CA – As of this morning [Saturday, January 23], Verizon phone lines have been affected by our heavy snowfall conditions.  At this time, most calls to and from the Big Bear Valley are not going through.  However, most local calls and most cell calls are working.  Also, the Big Bear Valley may have lost portions of the 911 emergency system.  When residents dial 911, you may receive an “all circuits are busy” recording.  Residents are asked to contact directly their local Sheriff’s Department and/or fire agency at the phone numbers below:

Sheriff’s Department –                       866-0100
Big Bear City Fire Department –     585-2362
Big Bear Lake Fire Department –   866-6538
Fawnskin Fire Department –           866-4878

At this time, the duration of this situation is unknown.  Local agencies are working diligently to restore services as soon as possible.

Update
: 911 service restored Saturday afternoon (per official reports), Verizon phone service restored by Saturday evening (per unofficial reports).
