A resident of Crestline lost his life in a single vehicle accident on Old Waterman Canyon Road yesterday—or perhaps Monday. Per the press release issued by our local office of the California Highway Patrol, headquartered in Running Springs: “On December 29 at 11:12 am, the California Highway Patrol received a report of a vehicle over-the-side on Old Waterman Canyon Road west of Crestline Cutoff. CHP Officers, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, and Crest Forest Fire District personnel responded to the scene. The officers located a black Jeep Liberty approximately 200 feet down the steep hillside. The driver, 53-year-old David Bokor of Crestline, the only occupant of the Jeep, was found deceased at the scene. Based on the evidence, the Jeep was traveling westbound on Old Waterman Canyon Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason. The Jeep overturned several times as it tumbled down the steep hillside, and it came to rest on its roof facing in a southwesterly direction. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and Officer Edward Escalera will be conducting the investigation. The vehicle was originally found by a San Bernardino County snowplow operator. Based on witness statements, the collision may have occurred on December 28 between 11am and 12pm. If you witnessed this collision or have any information, please call Officer Escalera at 909/867-2791.”
