Big Bear, Ca, June 1, 2011, 4:00pm –A five vehicle collision occurred this afternoon at approximately 2:00pm on Highway 18, resulting in the temporary closure of the road at Panorama Point just below Running Springs. At this time, one lane is open to traffic, and flagging is being conducted. According to Cal Trans Public Information Officer Terri Kasinga, major injuries are involved with the accident, resulting in one, possibly two people being airlifted. The road is expected to re-open in the next hour, however Kasinga did add that motorists may want to use Highway 330 between 4 and 6pm for upbound traffic.
