Big Bear, Ca, August 24, 2011, 4:00pm – In August the MWD hosts all of the Big Bear Valley’s 3rd graders for the MWD Kool Kids program. On two separate Wednesday’s the valley’s 3rd graders are invited to come to the Municipal Water District to learn about lake fishing, safety on the water, and learn things like how to check the water clarity on the lake. Each child catches a fish, and gets to go on a boat ride, as well as getting free lunch, and a free t-shirt. According to General Manager of the MWD, Scott Huele the MWD has sponsored the program for years, and told KBHR that it is a neat experience for the youth of our valley. Last Wednesday, the MWD hosted Northshore and Big Bear Elementary and this week hosted Baldwin Lane Elementary 3rd graders.
