Since receiving the new record trout report on Sunday, Alan Sharp of Big Bear Marina (Big Bear Lake’s official weigh-in station) tells us that this Memorial Day also brought a new record for channel catfish. At 12:30am on May 25, Kevin Bremer of Fontana wrangled in a 27.82 pound catfish, surpassing the previous record by .79 pounds. Bremer caught the 27.82 pound catfish off Gilner Point using half of a hot dog as bait, prompting Sharp to say, “I guess the cat bit the dog, but the dog caught the cat!”
