blossom2-thumbFamilies receiving social services no longer need to go off the hill for assistance and appointments, now that the One Stop Shop for such is available at the offices of Lutheran Social Services. Those receiving temporary aid to needy families (or welfare), food stamps or MediCal benefits can meet with the temporary assistance worker who comes to Lutheran Social Services each Monday and Wednesday. As Eileen Hofer of LSS notes, “We know that the need is there, now we just need people to come here instead.” Rather than drive to Redlands for these appointments, social services applications can be picked up at the LSS offices in Summit Plaza, and next working day appointments are often available here in Big Bear. For more information, please call Lutheran Social Services at 866-5070.
