Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley will once again be honoring women in our community, with three annual awards that recognize those who are “Making a Difference for Women.” Applications to nominate individuals for the three awards are available from Jan LaBarre at Phil’s Automotive at 41967 Fox Farm Road (across from Interiors), and the deadline for submission is March 15. The three awards, which will be distributed in May along with Soroptimists’ financial Women’s Opportunity and Violet Richardson awards, are as follows: The Women Helping Women Award is presented to those who have helped other women achieve their potential; the Women of Distinction Award recipients are considered ideal role models, exemplifying leadership, character and integrity; and the Advancing the Status of Women Award goes to a business or organization that has initiated, supported or advocated programs that advance the status of women. For more information on these local awards presented by Soroptimists, you can also contact Teresa Ritenour at 289-0516.
