Big Bear Lake, CA — Softball through the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District gets underway this month, with three different leagues offered. These include a women’s softball league for the summer season, as well as two men’s leagues: A League for the more competitive ball players, and B League for softball-playing men more inclined toward leisure and recreation. Team registration is currently being accepted at the Rec and Park offices on Park Avenue, and cost per player is $30 for women and $35 for men for the summer 2010 season. The first coaches meeting for the softball season is being held this evening (June 14), and all coaches for women’s teams are required to be in attendance; the women’s softball coaches meeting begins at 6:30pm. The mandatory meeting for men’s softball team coaches is next Monday, June 21st, and also at 6:30pm at the Park District offices in Big Bear Lake. For more information on any of the three softball leagues–as well as other offerings of Rec and Park, which include swim and tennis lessons, summer day camp, and a new, over-40 karate class–call 866-9700.
