During the FlexAlert, you should turn off unnecessary lights and appliances, only use major appliances in the morning and late evening, set the temperature on your air-conditioning at 78 degrees or higher, and turn it off when you’re not home. Consumers should postpone using major appliances such as washers and dryers, and dishwashers until after 7pm. In addition, businesses are encouraged to turn off unnecessary lights and maximize use of natural light. Turn off office equipment such as printers, computers, and fax machines when not in use.
