The Big Bear City Fire Department has reported that unauthorized phone solicitors are contacting individuals on behalf of the Burn Institute, but these calls are not valid.  According to the Burn Institute these telemarketers are not affiliated with the Burn Institute or locally authorized burn support organization.  Reputable organizations, including the Burn Institute, do not raise funds through telemarketing.  If you receive such a call, you are instructed to hang up and report the incident to the Burn Institute at 858/541-2277.
