Polique Canyon Road, accessible from Big Bear Lake’s North Shore, will be undergoing reconstruction starting tomorrow, November 24. The San Bernardino National Forest will intermittently close Polique Canyon, also known as Forest Road 2N09, through Spring 2010 for the reconstruction project, which is funded by federal appropriations designated to enhance water quality through the reduction of erosion and sedimentation in forest streams and waterways. Though public access will be limited over the coming months, Polique Canyon Road–which extends from the North Shore portion of Highway 38, about two miles east of Fawnskin, to Holcomb Valley Road, or 3N16—will remain open from Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, November 29.
