There are three public meeting scheduled for today, and these include the regular, first Wednesday meetings of the City of Big Bear Lake’s Planning Commission, the Board of Directors of the Big Bear Airport District, and the Board of Trustees for Bear Valley Unified School District.
The first of these, the Planning Commission, meets at 1:15pm in Hofert Hall. This afternoon’s meeting will include a Quality of Life Visioning presentation by the City’s Director of Building and Planning Jim Miller, City Engineer David Lawrence and Redevelopment Director Lyle Haynes.
At 2:30pm this afternoon, the Airport District Board meets at the airport pilots lounge in Big Bear City; today’s airport meeting will include a report on last weekend’s Air Fair and a committee update on hangar and commercial lease rentals.
The school board for BVUSD starts their meeting in closed session at 5:15pm, during which time they will meet with Dr. Kegham Tashjian, the district’s consultant in the superintendent hiring process, as current Superintendent Carole Ferraud’s last day is this Friday. Open session for the BVUSD meeting, to be held at the school district offices on Moonridge Road, is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm this evening. (For more on the superintendent hiring process, see our story posted June 30; see our July 9 story regarding interim Superintendent Dr. Rudy Macioge.)
