UPDATE: Phone System Failure Prompts Unavailability of “911″ System – Temporary Alternate Number Available

Big Bear, CA, August 22, 2013 – We have received reports that the Verizon and AT&T telephone systems are down in Running Springs, Arrowbear and Big Bear.  The cause is unknown.  According to Jeff Willis, Big Bear Fire Chief, the system failure has also prompted the “911″ emergency system to be down.  Residents in need of “911″ emergency service are advised to call 1-800-340-9110 until the problem is isolated and resolved.  This “800″ is to be used temporarily in the event of an emergency only.
