Eighteen-year-old Hayley Bracken’s reign as Miss Big Bear comes to a close this weekend, as a new Miss Big Bear will be crowned at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center on Saturday evening. The 6pm pageant will feature 19 young ladies from the Big Bear Valley, vying for the crown and scholarship in a competition that will include interviewing skills, stage presence and speaking ability, enthusiasm, evening gown elegance and, for the five finalists, the final question. This community event tends to sell out each year, though tickets to the Miss Big Bear Pageant on October 3 are still available by calling Teresa Ritenour at 909/289-0516. Last year’s court included Bracken, Vondalynn Dias, Hollie Oberneder, Kasey Judge and Lindsay McGeehan.
