A proposed increase in lake permit fees will be the focus of today’s Public Hearing Item when the Board of Directors of the Big Bear Municipal Water District convene for their regular meeting at 1pm today, at the MWD offices at 40524 Lakeview Drive in Big Bear Lake. A $10 increase to annual boat permits would, per MWD staff, allow for the district to continue to provide services, including free boat launching and parking, public restrooms and boating safety patrol officers. The MWD Board will also consider an additional $5 surcharge to cover the cost of Quagga Mussel mitigation measures in the 2009 boating season. Also on today’s agenda is consideration of granting an excused leave of absence for Director Skip Suhay, who represents Division 3 for the water district.
