This Morning’s 1.7 Magnitude Earthquake Follows Two Smaller Tremors in Big Bear City Area

We had an earthquake in our area this morning, the third centered near Big Bear City since yesterday. Today’s quake at 10:25am registered a magnitude of 1.7 and was centered four miles south of Big Bear City and, per the U.S. Geological Survey, was at a depth of nearly three miles. Prior to today’s 1.7 magnitude quake, we had two little ones yesterday: a 1.0 magnitude tremor centered five miles north northwest of Bear City at 2:09pm on June 22nd, and a 1.1 magnitude quake at 9:53am centered five miles north of Big Bear City. (We will generally report on quakes in our area of a 1.6 magnitude or greater.)
