Morning Starts With a Jolt: 1.8 Magnitude Earthquake Outside Bear City at 5:46am

If you were shaken awake a little early this morning, this could be due to the 1.8 magnitude quake that was centered in our area at 5:46 this morning (April 8). The 1.8 magnitude tremor, centered seven miles northeast of Big Bear City, registered a depth of nearly three miles, per the U.S. Geological Survey.
Update: We’ve since had a second quake, this one at 9:27am and registering a magnitude of 1.9. This morning’s second earthquake was centered three miles outside of Big Bear City and registered a depth of nearly eight miles.
