Monday Night Rocket Launch

Big Bear, Ca, September 20, 2010, 12:00pm – Head outside tonight at 8:20pm, grab a lawn chair, a blanket, and a cup of hot chocolate and watch the Team Vandenberg Atlas V Rocket launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 8:29pm. Vandenberg Air Force base is located near the coast above Santa Barbara, however the launch is very visible when residents look westward from Big Bear.  The launch marks the 604th overall Atlas mission in U.S. history, and is a team effort between the 4th Space Launch Squadron and the United Launch Alliance.  The rocket will carry a national security payload for the National Reconnaissance Office.
