Mill Fire at 200+ Acres

Mentone, CA, June 28, 2013 – The Mill Fire is up to at least 200 acres near the Mill Creek Ranger Station. Some structures have been lost in Mentone and evacuations are in effect there; there is no threat to the Big Bear Valley.

Motorists are allowed out of Big Bear via Highway 38, but should expect delays at the bottom of the mountain due to traffic detours.

The fire is burning north of Mill Creek Road in the Santa Ana riverbed and has not yet reached any forest boundary.

Smoke from the Mill Fire may be visible in the Big Bear Valley later this afternoon.
