Local Bus Schedule Changes Today

Big Bear Valley, CA, August 12, 2013 – Starting today, the Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority’s — otherwise known as “MARTA” — is making some changes to its routes and schedules. New riders guides will be available, but here are some highlights:

Big Bear Fixed Route 1 will now run 5:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The last runs will leave Erwin Lake and Boulder Bay at 6:30 p.m.  Service to Bear Mountain Resort is being restored with new times for Sugarloaf and Chautauqua High School stops and minor time point changes to other stops.

There will no longer be a break in mid-day service on the RIM Fixed Routes 2 and 4. In addition, Route 2′s first two runs will leave VOE at 6:15 and 7:15 a.m. then every 90 minutes thereafter. The last run departs VOE at 5:45 p.m. and will complete a round trip to Lake Arrowhead Village and back to VOE, going out of service at 7:05 p.m.

Route 4′s first run starts in Running Springs at 7:30 a.m., and runs every 90 minutes thereafter. The last run departs Running Springs at 6:00 p.m., completes a round trip to Lake Arrowhead Village and back to Running Springs, then retires for the evening at 7:10.  Arrival times for both Route 2 and 4 adjusted to allow for easier transfer at Lake Arrowhead Village. A 15-minute running time has been added to both routes each way, affecting time points for stops.
