Big Bear Valley, CA — The 80some students involved in the Rotary-sponsored Interact Club at Big Bear High School have once again planned for a special event for the Valley’s 55 and older crowd, this being the 8th annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta to be held at the Big Bear Senior Center. This free event, to be held on Saturday, May 8 at 2pm, is open to all seniors, who will be treated to Mexican food catered by Hacienda Grill, plenty of door prizes, and the opportunity to dance to Big Band-era, country and ’50s music; seniors need only sign up in person at the Big Bear Senior Center to attend the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on the 8th. The students of Big Bear High’s Interact Club raise their own funds to put on the event; the principle fundraiser for the group is the delivery of telephone books throughout the Valley. Interact generates about $12,0000 annually, per the Rotary Club of Big Bear Lake, and, in addition to sponsoring the annual event for seniors, they also contribute to local charities, Rotary service projects, and high school scholarships.
