Healthcare District Board to Appoint New Director Next Week; Shutta Continues as District’s Acting CEO

The Board of Directors for the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District convened on Saturday morning, during which time they reviewed the process by which they will determine a fifth board member, to replace Director and Treasurer Bill Speyers, who submitted his resignation from the elected post on December 31. It was determined that the existing board, which includes Dr. Chris Fagan, Ron Peavy, Brad Summers and Kathy Bauch, will interview the six applicants on the evening of Wednesday, February 10. The Healthcare District Board will then make a decision based on those interviews, and appoint a board member to serve the duration of Speyers’s term, which extends through November 2010. In the closed session portion of the January 30 meeting, the discussion regarding CEO Vi Colunga’s paid administrative leave continued and, for the time being, hospital CFO Rudy Shutta remains in place as the district’s acting CEO.
