Big Bear, Ca, February 8, 2011, 5:00pm – At the February 7th meeting of the Big Bear City Community Services District, board members voted against taking on the responsibilty of snow removal, and voted 3-2 in favor of creating a finance committee. The board members also went into closed session to discuss an employee evaluation of General Manager Michael Mayer. While there was no reportable action taken during closed session, board member James Smith stated in the beginning of the meeting that he felt the reasons for Mayer being on administrative leave should be made public. Chair Jeff Newsome made it clear that the issue with Mayer was to be discussed in closed session, because it is a personnel issue. Board Member John Green agreed with Newsome that speaking about Mayer outside of closed session was inappropriate. The February 21st meeting of the CSD has been canceled due to President’s Day, meetings will resume in March.
