City Coordinates Armed Forces Banner Program

Big Bear, Ca, February 14, 2011, 8:00am - Family members with loved ones serving in the Armed Forces can recognize them by purchasing banners that will be hung at Veterans Park. The City of Big Bear Lake is putting on the Armed Forces Banner Program which will feature active duty members of the Armed Forces, who are from or who have family ties to the Big Bear Valley. Honorees must be currently serving active duty (in a full-time capacity) in the United States Armed Forces, be a current resident of the Big Bear Valley or have an immediate family member residing in the Big Bear Valley, such as a grandparent, parent, spouse, sibling, son, daughter. Banners are $75 and will be displayed year round at Veterans Park. They will be installed twice during the year, in May and October. Each banner is approximately 2’ x 9’ and showcases the service members’ name, branch of service and his/her photo. The City would like to unveil banners during Memorial Day weekend at Veterans Park. Those wishing to participate are encouraged to sign up as early as possible. Order forms are available at City Hall, on the City’s website at citybigbearlake.com
