Big Bear Lake, CA – After nearly 22 years of public service, the City of Big Bear Lake City Clerk, Kathy Jefferies, will retire on August 1st, 2010. Mrs. Jefferies began at the City as a part-time clerical aide in the City Manager/City Clerk’s office in August 1988. She soon moved on through several different positions taking the official title of City Clerk in April 1993. As City Clerk, Mrs. Jefferies provides support to the Mayor and City Council, as well as City Manager and Chief Operations Officer. City Manager Jeff Mathieu stated, “Kathy is such a committed person, both in her professional and personal life. Her dedication and admirable spirit will be missed in the organization. She has worked tirelessly to position the City Clerk’s office organized and well equipped for the future. We send her thoughtful wishes as she embarks on a whole new journey in life.” Mathieu will assume the City Clerk position on an interim basis until City Council can assess and determine a future replacement.
