No Chain Controls in Place Despite Last Night’s Snow; Morning Traffic Collision on the Boulevard Prompts Lane Closures

The ski resorts received about an inch of snow overnight, though there seems to have been less coverage at lower elevations within the Big Bear Valley. Though this did not prompt any chain controls on our mountain roads, we do have a traffic advisory for Big Bear Boulevard. A two-car collision in Big Bear Lake, on the Boulevard between Moonridge Road and Fox Farm Road, did result in lane closures in as emergency personnel tend to those involved in the collision and clean up the roadway.

Update: The Boulevard is expected to be re-opened to traffic in the 9am hour. A second collision this morning, reportedly due to ice, resulted in a truck hitting a BVUSD school bus, with elementary-aged children on board. Per the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, there are no injuries to any involved and, as of approximately 8:45am, Citizens on Patrol volunteers are directing traffic at the scene, on Park Avenue at Eureka in Big Bear Lake; emergency personnel are on scene, and CHP are en route to investigate.

This two-vehicle collision (in front of Sizzler) prompted lane closures in the 8am hour today.
